Grants are available for organisations supporting young people at risk of youth violence in England and Wales. The total fund is £6.5 million, half of which will be reserved for charities and social enterprises. The minimum grant available is £25,000. There is no maximum grant value; however, grants awarded will be proportionate to the turnover of the applying organisation. The average grant is expected to be around £50,000. Applications can be submitted at any time until 3 June 2020 (midday).
Through its COVID-19 grant round, YEF aims to reach and help vulnerable children (aged 10-14) at risk of youth violence who, as a result of coronavirus/COVID-19 and social distancing measures, have lost the support they rely on and have become increasingly invisible. It will fund and evaluate work taking place in England and Wales that both supports these vulnerable young people and can be delivered while adhering to UK government social distancing and stay-at-home guidelines.
Grants are available to fund and evaluate work in the following two key areas:
- Digital/virtual delivery of programmes, specifically:
o Remote/digital/virtual delivery of programmes delivered on a one-to-one basis.
o Remote/digital/virtual delivery of group-based programmes.
o Remote/digital/virtual delivery of guided self-help or interactive content.
- Face-to-face activity that can be delivered while adhering to social distancing/stay-at-home guidelines, specifically:
o Face-to-face activity delivered within schools, including activities to help vulnerable young people return to school.
o Face-to-face delivery of detached youth work.
Successful applicants will be expected to work with the Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) and a learning partner, who will be appointed by YEF. This is to allow YEF to learn from what it funds and work towards its aim to build the evidence base about what works to prevent youth offending.
An online application form and guidance documents can be found on the Youth Endowment Fund website (https://youthendowmentfund.org.uk).
