Grants are available to support charities and not-for-profit organisations that provide lifetime support to those in need among serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans, and their immediate families. The maximum grant available is £30,000. Applications for spread grants, eg, a total of £30,000 awarded as £10,000 per year for three years, will also be considered. The Foundation tends to award more small grants than large grants.

Applications are considered at committee meetings four times a year in January, April, June, and October. Applications should be submitted by the end of the month preceding the meeting, so by the end of December, March, May, or September.

The funding can be used for projects covering a range of aspects of social care for the Armed Forces community, including but not limited to:

  • Homelessness.
  • Employability.
  • Poverty.
  • Disability.
  • Welfare issues and medical support.
  • Reducing dependency on drugs and alcohol.
  • Mental health.
  • Marriage guidance.
  • Care during old age.
  • Confidence building and social integration.

Guidance notes and the application form can be found on the Veterans’ Foundation’s website (https://www.veteransfoundation.org.uk/).

Applications should be submitted electronically but paper applications are also accepted in exceptional cases.
